Chinese Class & its Origin

Chinese Class is founded by Ms. Huang (alos known as Ms Carry) at her home in 2003. Ms. Carry is born in Taiwan, a native Mandarin speaker and is OCAC trained Mandarin teacher and IQ Chinese tutor. She has taught at Lewisham Indo-Chinese School and Ringmore View Chinese Class in South East London. She is now directing the weekly Chinese lesson as extra curriculum to Honor Oak Preschool term teaching plan in line with the EYFS Curriculum. She is also heavily devoted to promote langauge development in children. Chinese class provides individual, shared, small group classes to children aged 3+ attending Honor Oak Preschool and other school children.

Chinese Class and Pre-school Children 3+

Chinese Class provides high quality teaching, and fun learning in Chinese language to children from age 3 through to primary years and secondary age in South East London. Chinese Class supports the Early Year foundation stage and National curriculum with balanced activities to help children's language learning & other aspects of development physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually.

Learning Chinese Language through playful activities

Mostly, Chinese Class provides an unique opportunity for primary and secondary age children to learn Chinese in a natural and fun way through adult led activities including songs, rhymes, books, and artwork, in conjunction with the traditional Chinese teaching methods. The Class is run in very small size to ensure the individual students are given maximum attention in the class by the tutor. The teaching textbooks and sources are all printed in traditional characters. The lesson will be taught in traditional characters.

To register your child, please email admission to Preschool@hornby.org.uk

Music Development plays an important part at the heart of Early Years Curriculum at Honor Oak Preschool. Our preschool children learn to sing with beats, act, dance and move with music and creativity weekly. We follow the national framework of muisc development matters. Children are introduced to :

Musical terms

Instruments

The word “instrument” is used throughout the entire guidance. This word refers to all resources

which have sound-making possibilities, eg pans and wooden spoons should be considered to be

instruments. All instruments should be treated with care and respect. By modelling respect and

care for instruments in the environment and valuing instruments, adults can offer clear and positive

messages about music making.

The overall purpose of Musical Development Matters is to support practitioners, teachers, musicians and parents to see the musical attributes of young children and to offer ideas as to how they can support and nurture children’s musical development by offering broad musical experiences.

 Music Learning Beyond Preschool

The main muiscal instrument family consists of string, brass percussion, and woodwind. Whether you would like to take on an instrument or continue to explore the joy of music learning, there are trained music tutors awaiting and available to take you to next stage.

For Music Theroy & Music instrumental lessons, please contact Ms Carry at preschool@hornby.org.uk for instrument lessons / programme available and music tuition fee information.
